This wine is a chameleon, with each glass being different. This is something I've never experienced, but the good news is that overall, it was a good wine. The first glass was a bit heavy, with dark fruits and some tobacco notes. The second glass, which I had with dinner, seemed muted and I didn't get much from it (I'm just assuming this doesn't have the backbone to stand up to the wasabi in the sushi I was eating.) The third glass, after dinner, was full of red fruit, mainly cherries, and had a touch of sweetness that was pleasant. Finally, the last glass was almost port-like, with a hint of raisin and black walnut. My fiancee tasted each glass and our notes were remarkably similar. She even said I could serve this and people would think each glass came from a different bottle.

Not as tannic and earthy as I normally look for in a Howell Mtn cab, but very good.

Very fruity. There is enough substance to get better for a few years, but not likely a very long life. Drink in the next few years.
