HL þema; 2/28/2024-3/4/2024 (Marbakkabraut): Í nefi eins og fjögurra ávaxta sulta s.s. bláber, rifsber, hindber og slíkt. Nokkuð sætt í þefi. Í bragði mátti greina krækiber, rifsber, citrus. Talsvert tannískt þó fíngerð, sýra til staðar næstum óþægilega mikil. Lýst sem "villingi frá Bordeaux".

First Wednesday Wine Club (Francobollo, Haberfield): "Served Blind. Slightly sour black fruits, slight pyrazine, sweet spice, a little jubey jammy notes. Medium plus intensity acidity, talc textured tannic grip is quite drying, woody, chewy, a little black fruit, stony minerality. This rather stumped me. I thought it might be an Italian Super Tuscan Bordeaux blend from 2015"

Blend of 70+% merlot and 20+% cab with some cab Franc as well. Nice blend with nice mouthful. Plus of berries, oak, dark fruit plum and some slight herbs or green veg. Some fine tannin. Quite enjoyable.

Still a vibrant ruby red with a pronounced nose of bay leaf, blackberry, raspberry, leather, cigar box, star anise, and charred wood. Plenty of lovely smooth tannins and a long finish. The last bottle I had was fading but this one was outstanding - there may be some life left in this yet!

I agree with the 89 rating. A lovely wine that uses a Bordeaux mix and makes me wonder what a great Bordeaux would be like. It was a 2013 vintage and that added complexity. Foremost blueberry and cedar.
