Appealing aromas of ripe black cherry, meaty spices, fresh cut herbs and a hint of braised meat. Palate is richly fruited with Grand Cru concentration. Intensely meaty and spicy finish. At peak and should hold for at least 5-10 years.

Gevrey Jacques Tasting (Chicago + Zoom): More modern than the 02 Jadot CSJ and 02 Fourrier CSJ with a candied sweetness to the aromas. The palate is quite stuffed with fruit and structure making it dense and chewy, and more 'beefy' than you might expect for a 2002. Continued to improve with time in glass. Upside from here, though it seems close to a peak window.

Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Tasting ("The Jacques") (Chicagoland IL): Very rich and powerful in a seemingly modern style, this is the one wine tonight in which new oak protruded for me. But at the same time, there is so much rich tastiness here that it is delightful and still wonderfully fresh.
