By most accounts, '97 was not the greatest vintage for WA wine, but this wine was one of the better ones. Still, drink now or soon. It proved a very interesting wine. Definitely an Bordeaux style with the 3 yrs in French oak. You can certainly taste that. Overall, very solid. I may be drinking it slightly past peak. It tastes reminiscent of a Bordeaux up front, but lacks the finish a really good Bordeaux would have. It doesn't really linger with you. Wine had a brickish hue to it. Leather and tobacco notes with currant and plum. Very good.

Sue and I had a very different reaction to this wine. I thought it had a nice, aged bouquet, with plum and dark fruit on the palate, but with drying tannins and a slightly bitter finish that I didn't like. Otherwise a nice wine that seemed to be well constructed. Sue rated it at a 92 and was especially fond of the bitter finish. I thought it poor QPR at $42 retail when I bought it. Sue guessed it to be a $50 wine! We both agreed to let the last bottle sit another five years.
