  • Drank from 3 liter bottle. Tasted both right after opening and 24h later. A delightful surprise since after 21 years who could expect a Chianti Classico to still be holding its own even in a large format bottle? Color was absolutely clear dark red with no visible bricking and only moderate sediment. Nose was a little muted but not nearly what one might expect with this much bottle age, and featured cherries and some cedar-like notes. No off odors or flavor at all. Palate was similar to nose with typical Sangiovese tart acidity. Short finish. Paired very nicely with homemade lasagna. Very pleased with this gamble which I bought from a collector's cellar.
