This was a much better showing than a bottle a year ago. moderately flavorful, good balance, I'm not sure I see it getting any beter. The tannins on the bottle were not drying as they were on the previous one.

Interesting and slightly vegetal nose on opening—asparagus and green pepper; eased up after a couple of hours. On the palate is a lot of dark fruit, black cherry, plum, and some tomatillo in keeping with the slightly acidic/vegetal edge. Medium finish. I sense this is now past it’s best but still enjoyed it.

{screwcap, 13.5%} Still a deep garnet colour. Mature nose, compost and decaying leaves. Some delicatessen meat. Molten, aged strawberry. Palate is pleasant, a mix of ripe and aging fruit. Soft oak, barely detectable. Slightly steely palate, not luxurious. Less impressive than the nose. Medium length finish, dominated by a soft astringency. Probably past best as far as real interest goes, but perfectly drinkable for a while yet.

fairly nice nose, initially on the palate there is a sense of medium flavor intensity and typical acid for a new world pinot....however, the tannins on the finish are persistent, a bit coarse and drying, one can hope that time might help, but I'm not sure.

Dense and rich tonight. Savoury low toned red plumb & mulberry nose and palate. Felt quite extracted in texture, and ripe. Hasn't developed as I imagined; a bit bottom heavy now. Not a lot of acid balance and seems to have lost the red fruited lift of a few years ago.
A good wine nevertheless, but I preferred this heavier Escarpment at 3 to 5 years old.
