  • Purchased a few years ago from Wegmans. I was skeptical, but price was reasonable. Label was in pristine condition. Opened last night on OTBN and paired with beef bourguignon.

Agree with many of the previous notes. Opened with an ah-so. Cork was in great shape - firm with staining only at the bottom. Poured into glasses and let it air out for about 30 minutes. Color was excellent with minimal bricking. Nose was very pretty and complex with dried red fruit, floral, used coffee grounds. Palate was rich, silky with sweet dried cherries and balanced by acidity that went beautifully with the food. This is the best old Burgundy I’ve had.

  • A Burgundy Paulée with the Chevaliers du Tastevin (Hooked Market & Kitchen, Latham, NY): A hint candied red fruit in a nose of tar and rotting mulch. Mouth is similar. RIP NR

  • Significant bricking really rust colored. Very ripe plum with a fig note. Definitely still has life. It’s what you imagine very old burgundy to be. Was very much enhanced by food. Started with some triple creme Brie and then chicken with a burgundy mushroom sauce. Used a umami spice which brought it all together. Don’t think this is a stand alone wine. Recorked and brand new label.

  • Unlike other bottles which have shown very youthful for the vintage, this shows a dominant tertiary profile, initially showing some lactic/milky aromas that break away to toffee/caramel, sweet spices, woodsmoke, cedar chest and chocolate. Supple, rounded palate with beef stock/umami richness in the mouth, coated tannins and notable sweetness. This had a new cork.

  • I have been lucky to have tried this a handful of times and this bottle was quite on point; marvelous smoky sous bois complexity with Worcestershire sauce, tobacco smoke, caramel, a note of espresso over hallmark soil tones, aging red fruit and beetroot highlights. Supple, fat but defined. In a marvelous place and this is one of the reconditioned bottles that has shown so well (consistently) over the last few years. Delicious umami/blood/beef stock texture and complexity. Rich, well-structured and intense yet well defined!
