From a bottle that was purchased upon release and cellared under ideal conditions, this wine was double-decanted, allowing three hours of aeration in carafe prior to funneling back into the cleansed bottle. It was then taken to a restaurant, where it was consumed over approximately two hours. Deep-to-opaque garnet in color, it unleashes an intense bouquet of black and blue fruits that are accented with notes of leather, lavender, baking spices, graphite and savory herbs. Full-bodied, freshly acidic and without noticeable heat from its 14.9% alcohol, it delivers flavors mirroring the aromas and is impressively solid on the mid-palate, where the wine's plentiful fine-grained tannins flex some muscle. Lingering beautifully on the back end, this is an impressive Howell Mountain Cab that will have substantial longevity. Drink now-2038.

Again this is an awesome Cabernet. That said from a winemaker who swore not to make a Cabernet (supposedly) years ago. The wine is just so elegant with fresh squeezed blueberry fruit nose in combination with a touch of sulphur. In mouth the juice is forward and definitely blue fruits influenced which leads to its elegant and mild acidic mouthfeel. Overall medium weight with balanced tannins. Feels about ready right now to drink.
