This needed a lot of air approximately 3 hours from opening and next time I would decant for at least a couple hours. But once open it has lovely resolved tannins and a beautiful concentration and structure.

i had this next to the 2011 vintage and felt this was much more integrated. Crushed rock with cherry, black currant, anise and a bit of smokey forest floor. Just maybe the most glossy and "northern Burgundian" Beaujolais I've had.

Desjourneys tasting at Truffle (Wellington, NZ): For me, the star among the 2010 Beaujolais. A complex bouquet of minerals, soils, blackcurrants and black cherries with river boulder. On palate, the fullest, richest and densest of the wines. Serious structure. Actually – at the moment – a bit of a tannic beast. Black fruited with damp peaty soil, iron and a little black truffle. Ideally hold for 2-3+ years, I'd expect the Chassignol to drink well over the next 10+ years. In that timeframe I wouldn't be surprised if it outperformed the La Chapalle.

Medium-deep garnet. Quite rich in color and taste. Dusty tannins, lots of red and dark fruit, quite some volume here. Earthy and a bit rustic. Decent.
