Very nice red fruit nose, but there is an astringent oak that is over powering and impacts the finish. Seems like bottle age won't do much to help that given it's already got over 5 years.

Flickinger Customer Appreciation Tasting (Casino Club - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Red berry, spice and floral notes that are prototypically Volnay, while also clearly from a leaner vintage. Cellar for another year to soften, but this is a nice value wine for 2017 forward.

Flickinger Tasting at The Casino (Chicago, IL): The nose has some nice and light red fruit, and that follows through on the palate as well, save for one giant smear of astringent oak that gets in the way of everything. In fact, if you took the oak out, I'd probably actually like this, instead of finding it another anonymous example of red Burgundy.

Medium red to the light side; gentle red berries, perhaps a bit of greeniness; soft, sweet, gentle attack, gentle acidity; nice and ready

Red fruit, mainly cherries, some elevage notes (wood), underripe fruit, ok, not more.
