Small vertical 2011 and 2012 vintages. The commonalities: nice cherries, blackcurrant, cacao, liquorice, tobacco, fresh finish. The 2011 more tannic almost austhere, the 2012 more fruity with sour cherries.

We think we know something about wine then a bottle like this proves our ignorance. 2011? No way. Sicily? Donna Fuggata boutit. Some oddball grape mix? Yeah right. A bit of taste sensations from Bordeaux, Rhone, Amarone.... read the prior tasting notes which elaborate quite well and miss only one element Sweet Almond.
Not my first Italian surprise, the 1970 Torre Quarto (and 1964, 1966, 1968, 1972) from Puglia was a Bordeaux doppelganger, $3. a bottle, never could track down grapes, etc. only cases left in wine store cellars @ $36. ( recent vintages different animal). Anyone from Puglia who wants a finder's fee?
Should we project the work of eccentric winemakers or just drink up.

Wonderful chocolate, liquorice, cherries, red berries. Long finish and soft tannins. A great wine
