Family christmas dinner 2015 with different wines for different courses:
1. Pommery Champagne Noir NV: 88 points Apero: very small bubbles, yeasty, and rather on the fruity side.
2. Petaluma Riesling Hanlin Hill 2011 (Magnum): 93 points Second bottle since christmas dinner in 2011, when it was still very young but already marvelous. This time, more aged and complex notes: lots of petrol on nose and palate, minerals, citrus fruits. Very creamy and long finish.
3. Franz Künstler Riesling Trocken - Terra Nostra - 2014: 88 points Tough job, following the Petaluma. Very young, not settled in yet. Fruity, nearly off-dry, good acidity, medium finish. Less complex than 2013.
4. Cantina Medaina Barolo 2009 (two bottles): 89 points Three hours decanting. Mild red colour, cherry and spice nose. On the palate, even more cherries, spices, and herbs. Decent tannins, some chocolate (?), medium acidity, medium to long finish.
5. Predella Brunello di Montalcino 2009: 87 points One hour decanting. Less complex having had the Barolo before. Similar impression as GROCHOL in August 2015.
6. Château Haut-Maurac 2010 (Magnum): 88 points Three hours decanting. Quite different compared to the Barolo and Brunello. Very dark red colour, dark berries nose. On the palate, lots of wood, berries, black currants, some chalk as well, long finish. Liked it a bit better than my last magnum one year ago.

Last bottle: tropical notes again, some minerality, not as sweet as last time.

Better than the last bottle, which I had christmas 2015. Crisp, high but balanced acidity, tropical fruits. Though not as creamy as the 2013 vintage.
