  • One of the better Ribera del Dueros that I have ever had. Sampled three bottles last night, and they were all very good and very consistent. Medium (+) ruby. The nose is clean, developed, medium (+) in intensity, with subtle sweet French oak spice notes framing ripe black cherries, plums. The nose is developing, with a hint of sweet tobacco, dried herbs and forest floor. The palate is dry, with nice fruit, consistent with the nose, medium acidity, medium and polished tannins. The alcohol is high at 15%, but it tastes more like 13.5%. Medium (+) body, wonderfully balanced, with a smooth, long finish. It pairs well with a wide range of Spanish foods, including strongly-flavored seafood, thanks to its acidity and perceived lightness. Drinking well now, but still has a lot of upside potential with further aging. Really nice, clean, modern interpretation of a classic.

  • The wine is clear and bright with a medium ruby colour.

The nose is clean and developing, showing medium(+) intensity aromas of herbs (sage), pungent spices (black pepper, liquorice), oak (cedar, clove), black fruit (dark cherries) and fruit development (baked plums).

The wine is dry with a medium acidity. It has high fine-grained tannins and a high slightly warm alcohol. It has a full body and pronounced intensity flavours of herbs (sage), pungent spices (black pepper, liquorice), oak (cedar, clove), black fruit (dark cherries) and fruit development (baked plums). The finish is long.

It is an outstanding quality wine. It has a lingering finish and very concentrated flavours in balance with the tannins and alcohol. It also shows complexity provided by oak and bottle ageing, as well as herbs and spicy notes.

Can drink now but it has enough tannic structure and fruit concentration to develop some more tertiary aromas over the next 3-5 years.
