  • Salted nuts, caramelized/toasted nuts as well with fragrant honey, light aldehyde note; amazingly slick, bone dry, smooth, light and elegant but intense, bright and cutting with precise acidity; light hay, band-aid and caramelized notes in the super long finish. Stunning wine.

  • Writing tasting notes for this amontillado is beyond my abilities. What I can say is that this wine is intense, though not as intense and vibrant as amontillados I've tried from Equipos Navazos, and that it is deep, rich, and old-tasting. It is obviously a high quality amontillado. What I like most about it is the deep, less-volatile core of rancio, nuts, yeast, leather, etc. But the rancio notes are not profound. Moreover, I find that the saline, brine, and fruit flavors, though clearly present, are somewhat muted. In my opinion, the subtly increased masculine depth from long aging is more than offset by the subdued vibrancy that also is a likely result of that aging. In other words, I wonder whether this was aged too long.
