88-89 paid $15. pretty damn good for a widely available syrah blend.
Definitely heavy with the french oak but the varietals show through.
full bodied, just enough acid, and ripe sticky tannins. Good finish, integrated alcahol, and above average complexity.
Nose and palate of sweet blackberry and black raspberry. candied cherry and cough drop. pronounced chocolate, pastry, and mocha notes from the french oak but a tangy green herb/garrigue aroma peeks through from the dash of viognier and grenache. Faint whiff of cured meats, and a bright orange rind on the long dusty finish.
new world no doubt but well made and crowd pleasing for $15. another hit from AVV.

A fruit attack in the nose fleshy slightly artificial red cherry on full ripeness with a bit of leatheriness. On the palate the rich bold fruit just simply loads the mouth with explosive ripe red cherry, black pepper and a hint of grape stalk. Acidity is really fresh, and you do get some good Ventoux type of structure. The fruit is so dominant.
