  • Got it as a random single bottle purchase from WDC. Great qpr at $35 with all coupon shenanigans.
Some sediment in the bottle but the smell exploded with sous bois, earthiness, and darker fruit. Palate matched the smell. Lovely lovely wine.

Day 2 the tastes became more concentrated and a bit less feminine resulting in something slightly less desirable but still nice.

Day 3&4 there was little material change. This is thing has probably peaked but will hold for a while longer. I would definitely buy more if given the chance.

  • 11/12. Cork OK - about 40% soaked.
Medium garnet core, pale garnet/mahogany rim. Nose shows spicy, mainly red-toned fruit, a wild, mulchy sous-bois edge, earth. Medium/full bodied, fruit more dark-toned than on nose, mouth-filling, rich with decent depth, attractive contrasting acidity, sous-bois notes coming through on the medium/good length finish. Tannins perhaps a touch tacky on the finish but all in all a decent, honest burgundy still going strong and likely to continue to do so for at least another 5 years.

  • Very nice Santenay. Cellar tracker drinking window wrong on this one... It was in very good condition tonight!

  • Cork still in good shape - about 20% soaking. Medium garnet core, some bright ruby tints, medium pale garnet rim. Nose is a touch subdued at first, probably due to serving temperature (15C), but slowly unfurls to reveal an attractive combination of rich sous-bois, spice and underlying pure, zingy but quite dark toned fruit. Medium/full on the palate, savoury but bright dark cherry and plum fruit, again rich sous-bois and earth contrasting nicely with vibrant acids, then a medium/good length finish with a touch of chalky tannin on the tail end. Now better integrated and mature this is a satisfying and balanced if not overly sophisticated drink. Now and over the next 5 years or so.

  • Medium garnet core, medium pale garnet rim. Lovely, intense, pure red cherry fruit on the nose, notes of vanilla, floral hints and a hint of undergrowth now emerging. Medium bodied on the palate, the same lovely pure, almost chrystalline red fruit on the initial attack, touch of earth and undergrowth, nice zippy acidity, tannins are a touch rustic on the medium/good length finish. Overall very good though.
