Guys this is READY. But like in all the best ways. Still rich dark fruit with chocolate and nutmeg. Ageing highlights the meaty characteristics Syrah is known for without sacrificing the fruit. The balance is beautiful.

Final bottle of one badass case enjoyed over the years. Have I experienced a better American red for $30 in the last decade? Perhaps nope. And it's certainly at a peak now. Enjoyable straight from the decanter without time. Huge complexity: violets, garrigue, smoke, moist forest floor, blackberry with its bit of tart. No off notes. Hedonistic but not overdone. Despite my personal preferences veering toward elegance, this bold American Syrah gets everything right at its price point. Everything. I'd buy four more cases right now if I could. Top 0.1% of American reds for $30, IMO. Had I paid $100, I would have considered this better than many at that price.

This has softened quite a bit. I doubt it will develop any more. Great floral notes with purple flowers and pepper tracking center stage. Drink in the next year or two.
