  • Gala Dinner at La Festa del Piemonte (The Pool Restaurant, NYC): Rich, juicy, backward. Not very expressive at this point. Needs time.

  • Clear, pale intensity, garnet color.

    Tightly knit nose that never really came around during the night. Very earthy aroma profile with dried cherry, slight raisin, dry soil, murky wood, iron, worn leather, dusty gravel, dried rosemary, potpourri and tar.

    Rugged and austere on the palate. High acidity, big drying tannins and full bodied. Great intensity of flavors but still very tight. It kind of tastes like a hand full of dry soil sprinkled with some dried red fruits. Long finish with some alcohol coming through (15% abv according to the back label).

    Not so fun to drink right now. Very harsh and austere and not at all as approachable as some 2011's has been. It really has stuffing for long cellar time but I'm a bit concerned about the alcohol and that raisin-y fruit. At €60 I'm a pass...

  • Light, brownish colour. Quite expressive nose dominated by sweet fruit and sweet oak spices. cherries, bergamot orange, a bit of vanilla, cinnamon, and flowers. Dry with distinct acidity and tannins. Quite a lot of sweet, almost dried fruit on the palate. high intensity and a long finish. This is a tad too much oak for me, still a really well made wine with high cellar potential.

  • Aromas of earth, eat, iron and flora. There’s good flesh in the mouth and whilst the impeccable balance and generosity of fruit makes this an enjoyable drink now there is plenty left in the tank for further development.
