  • Sat Night Chillin in the East!: I brought the '92 Pichon Baron and Cos D to taste alongside tonight. I believe I have yet to try any 1992 Bordeaux before. The Cos D was more lively and more fruit forward as compared to the Pichon Baron - black fruits, tobacco leaves, slight leather. Quite enticing and very enjoyable. Open up sooner than later. 92/93

  • Wine dinner w/canto cuisine. Pristine cork upon opening. Bottle breathed for 30min and started pouring right after. Expressive nose from a classic vintaged Bordeaux. Eucalyptus, minty and some soil and leather were all there. Tannin has been mostly resolved, very smooth on palette. Acidity was on low side while fruit was still present. It has gone downhill towards end of dinner, like 3 hours from beginning. Overall very pleasant bottle from a weak vintage. It has probably past its prime, but certainly holding up very well.

  • I opened this to serve with a roast leg of lamb. The cork was in great shape, though I used a Durand just in case. It opened up in about 30 minutes in the decanter, and I kept swirling in a Riedel Somm Bordeaux glass. Absolutely no funk on the nose. Cedar, eucalyptus, forest floor on the nose. Beautiful color - still very deep red with some brick color on the edges. Almost no legs showing. Not a lot of fruit on the attack - first impression was a lot of eucalyptus. Medium body, medium acid. Soft, integrated tannins. Got some dark fruit on the mid-palate, along with tobacco. Medium finish. Past its prime, but I love the lessons you can still get on the back side of the curve.

  • Not the best year but nonetheless drinking well now. Took about 45 min of air before it showed itself fully. A decent amount of dark fruit left together with classic Bordeaux profile of mint, wet earth/moss and slight funk. Well integrated and balanced, medium body leading into a medium-long finish.

  • Christmas Wine. How better to celebrate then with a 25 year old bordeaux. Still drinking well with pronounced, well balanced scents and still ripe gamey and fruity tastes of cabernet and merlot. Went well with the lamb dinner.

(Château Cos d'Estournel) Faintly herbaceous nose; light-bodied, olive, herbaceous palate with firm tannins and sense of oak; short finish
