  Tannins are still firm, plenty of body/fruit, I have one more bottle of this and will probably give it a couple of years, I think it will improve.

  Second wine of Gruaud Larose.
  slightly tannic and bitter but otherwise great Bordeaux nose and taste. Well balanced with good complexity of flavors. Best with food and not by itself. Another statement for second wines in great years. Great bang for 20 bucks.

  Found this most rare second growth second label of Gruaud Larose at the 55 Wine Bar inside Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas. It was reasonably priced at $63 so I couldn't resist. Color was inky purple with pinkish rim. Nose of leather, tobacco and cassis with an added taste of vanilla. Short finish but an otherwise fine wine with great structure and relatively strong tannin. The bottle even has tasting notes on the back label courtesy of the importer. Execellent wine but I wish it wasn't so hard to find! A great Bordeaux.
