  Opened (last night with dinner) with so much funk and VA that Jean thought it was corked. It was cranky, but I had my doubts about her diagnosis. She asked for a different bottle (which I obliged), but I set mine aside, and came back...
  
  Two hours later: Same terrific stuff as previous bottles, and the rest of the bottle was on point tonight. Muted Croatina nose. Soft tannins and acidity, mouthful of magnificent blackberry and Japanese plum. Patience is a virtue. Glad I didn't pour this down the sink.
