This bottle was missing the 'zing' that I am familiar with in this wine. I'm afraid that I've missed the best of it for my remaining bottles. Heavy raisin on the nose, but after 10 or 15 mins in the decanter, this went away.

12/17 I can confess this Salceda had a terrific nose: meat, sweet tobacco, coffee bean, box of matches, some veggies,strawberries, candies ... very complete. Do not forget to let it take a breath. Peaking but with years ahead. Richly dense for a ten years old Rioja Reserva. At this point, an excellent bottle.
12/17 Puedo confesar que este Salceda tenía una nariz terrorífica: carne, tabaco dulce, pepita de café, caja de cerillas, algunos vegetales, fresas, dulces ... muy completa. No olvides dejarlo respirar. En su punto pero con años por delante. Ricamente denso par un Rioja Reserva de 10 años. En este punto, una botella excelente.

Had to go back after last bottle. Much better this time around. Prominent oak, but also still balanced. More earth/spice than fruit, but still there. I see this in a plateau phase and neither improving nor declining in the next few years.
