A special bottle of wine. Probably the best bottle of meunier only champagne I've had. Great energy, balance, and depth. Plenty of years ahead of this one too. Maybe underrating this.

Lovely golden color. On the nose - ripe red apple, almond, a bit of spice like gingerbread. On the palate, fairly rich - does not feel lean and light even though it's extra brut dosage. Round and fairly rich, but with a long lemon-y acid finish.

Cognac mid palate, a lot of acidity, but not a precise or defined finish. Too oxidative for me.

Delicious. Terrific structure, austere, wonderful depth. Excellent Pinot meunier. Years to go too.

Brief Takes on a Slew of Grower Champagnes (Arlequin Wine Merchant, San Francisco): Interesting, spicy nose but very dry, austere palate. Pure Meunier Champagne just does not do it for me.
