  • Medium-dark garnet color, aromas of ripe mascerated blackberry, baking spice and a tinge of malt. Medium bodied, luscious flavors of blackberry, dark chocolate covered dried cherry, tobacco and a tinge of licorice. This is a delicious wine, it needs a little more body to match the flavor, otherwise WS definitely was definitely low on this one. drink now or within 2 years.

  • 30 min decant. Deep ruby magenta color. Rich red fruit and brown sugar on the nose. Smooth palate with soft acidity. Round tannins on the medium long finish. This is a Left Bank Bordeaux blend made by an Oregon Pinot maker.

  • Two hour decant. Nice deep magenta color. Complex nose with stems, cherry, baking spice, lavender (wild flowers) and green leaves. Nicely balanced, smooth palate. Sharp tannins on medium+ finish. This truly is a Bordeaux blend (left bank) made in Pinot style (as advertised. Wonderfully unique wine. Doesn't necessarily need the decant. May have been richer right out of bottle. Didn't change much after 4 hours.

  • Great wine. Deep fruit. Needs a couple of hours to open up.

  • Interestingly, this wine drank much better in a Riedel Pinot Noir glass than it did in the Bordeaux glass. Can't say why, it just did. Tasted a little more tannic and out of balance in the Bordeaux glass. When we were at the winery, we were served in a Burgundy glass. In my humble opinion, this wine will benefit from some age. I have had some people claim that this wine will not age. I say on what basis are you making the claim, because it was not made in the typical huge extraction method of making Cabernet or other Bordeaux varietals? I am a winemaker and having tasted many wines I have made throughout the years. Huge extraction and giant tannins are not always a requirement for wines to age well. SOMETIMES these things can cause the wine to never reach it's true age ability because the fruit fades before these things come into balance and you end up with an alcohol bomb lacking in fruit. Many times I am surprised as to what wines aged with grace and balance and equally surprised by which ones did not. I am of the opinion that farming, site and clonal material is FAR more important to wines ability to age than a winemaking style. A Pinot Drinkers Cabernet should not be a deterent to enjoying these wines. There is plenty of incredible flavor, balance and I personally don't always want my wines to be "In my face" big. Just sharing my personal opinion.
