Nearly 8 years after the prior, and our last: this is a distinctive fellow, and we think it developed quite nicely. Lots of earthy and dried mushroomy characteristics. Quite enjoyable over three nights.

Jura with Richard Jennings (South Bay): 12% alc. Medium minus garnet to an orange rim. Profoundly weird nose of savory carrot cake, toasted bretty dog fur, a bit like wet rotting vegetables. Asian fish market aromas. Really smells like fresh but slightly aired-out fish at a market. bacterial? low sulfur? fruit is submerged - underripe black cherry. On the palate: oxidative, bruised mushy brown cherry, medium body, medium alcohol, elevated acid, elevated tannins - papery and unrefined. Seems stemmy.

Medium dark and bright Ruby. This is extremely distinctive. There's a taste and smell of wet terra-cotta; but also bright flavors of fresh dark fruit. Maybe a very slightly stewed quality as well. White pepper, but restrained. The mouth impression is almost creamy, very smooth. What an individual this is! We enjoyed it over three days, refrigerated but neither pumped nor gassed in between. (It apparently is quite rare, and that is reflected in the price.)

Consistent with prior note. Because we did not spread this over multiple nights, we decanted it first. Wow.
