Over dinner - no formal notes. Quite pale in colour with some bricking around the rim. Very layered and complex on the nose. Herbal, spicy with wonderful fruit. The tannins provide structure but are unobtrusive. Great acidity, very focussed and vibrant with a long, lingering finish. Excellent. 94-96? Drink or keep.

Académie des Cinquante 60th Annual Dinner (Restaurant De Echoput, Hoog Soeren, Netherlands): Very pale colour, strawberry; fragrant nose, slate, hint of undergrowth, red berries, touch of cranberry, aroma of smoky oak; smooth attack, drying palate, a bit too tight and austere; good length. Disappoints after the nose, needs a warmer vintage.
