Napa Cabernets + SQN + others (Home): I always have a soft spot in my heart (or palate) for the St. Helena wines from Del Dotto. This 2013 is a medium-bodied animal (when compared to what I remember about the 2014), darker fruit profile, with some earthy minerality and gritty tannins. Some dark crunchy cassis as well. Drink now.

Dark brooding color with some barely noticeable garnet on the side - tears are pouring down in this massive 15.6% abv Cabernet. Brand new toasty oak with hints of blackberry hiding behind the oak (very young). Blood and charred oak right on the attack with bright acidity and notes of milk chocolate. Sticky thick tannins come through but are a bit drying to the medium oaky finish. After 60 minute decant, the fruit begins to emerge with some sweetness, more like currants and the oak brings more of a left bank character to it. This wine needs way more time in the cellar to pass final verdict. 93-95

This wine is INSANELY good. Beautiful balance of rich dark fruits and smooth tannins, this wine is enjoyable now and will age the distance.
