Ruby red A touch metallic at first with a hint of SO2, the aroma soon revs up and fills with intense black cherry, plum, and a savoury edge. The entry entertains some red fruits with the black, plum skin texture and plenty of spicy oak. A grippy stem note (30% whole bunch on 75% of wine; 10% on the other 25%) gives structure to the wine, leading to a lovely juicy mid-palate with crispy, almost crunchy acidity. Very much in a Burgundy mould, there is texture, poise, that blade of tannins giving a grippy, dry chalky finish. Clean and correct, yet still a little obvious with wood prominent, the long lingering finish promises much more with time.

Light to medium ruby, deep, penetrating aromas of black fruit. Medium to almost full-bodied Pinot with power and great concentration; packed with black cherry, some berries and plum with a cherry flesh core and quite a heft of oak. Spicy mid-palate has a lively acidity balanced with rich, fleshy fruit and spiky alcohol. Plenty of spice, yet falls away a little on the finish leaving a powdery and slightly chalky tannin. Needs more time to harmonise, and the oak protrudes somewhat at present. As the wine opened the texture became a little grippier, but all have the richness to resolve with time.
