Casual tasting at De Tapas (Dallas, Texas): Better thant he previous bottle sampled a few months ago. More Bordeaux in character, with deeper red currant present. By itself, with food, a pleasing wine.

Tasted January 10, 2007 at an offline. Opened and served immediately in a Spiegelau Authentis Magnum glass. Dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Odd nose that was dominated by fennel with maybe some notes of mint and perhaps Kirsch. Flavors of bitters dominate with maybe some black licorice/anise notes. “Flat on the palate with little tannins. I question the provenance on this bottle so I’m withholding a rating.

Spain, etc., with MB (De Tapas Restaurant, Dallas, Texas): Nice muted aromas of an aged wine--mellow nose, followed by somewhat rustic tannins. A hint of Bret, with not a lot of fruit showing. Overall pleasant wine that went well with the food. Much better during the second taste an hour and a half later.
