Opened the bottle around 7am. Put it into a decanter at 2:00 as I wanted a glass with my grilled spicy kidney. Totally impenetrable color. Nose is showing iron shavings, lead pencil, brambly cranberries and a bit of honey. Nice full tannic mouthful deep red fruits, cranberries, bitter orange and pine cones. This is the wild side of Aglianico. Many more years needed for it to become civilized. Next bottle in another 5 years. Lots of upside potential.

Sturdy, bone dry, mineral after time in the glass, licorice, some dark fruit. This has a quite unique profile that you need to get used to, but it opened up more with air and grew on me as time passed by

Very nice and very smooth. We decanted for two hours after bringing the wine to temperature for two hours before that. Sturdy, hearty. Everything you’d expect from an Aglianico. Perfect pairing with a salt, pepper, and cumin roasted Lamb rack. MUST decant.

My last of these and five years since the previous one; this is still a bit over the top and hard to peg - powerful but a bit stifling too. Not one I'd seek out again. Much better on day three; deeper, more open, less congestion and acidity.
