Gooseberry & pear flavors, with underlying base of mineral & wet stone. Some tanginess in the middle, but less than e.g. sauvignon blanc. Found it to be better without food.

This wine is quite different, and a little hard to describe. We don't get anything that tastes like this. If it were not for the fact they have probably been making this for about 1000 years, I would call it quirky. This is a rather soft spoken, relatively mild wine that is full of a pure expression of whatever it is. To me it seems briny and saline. The fruit is very tight and precise gooseberry and grapefruit. It is very earthy with big mineral and wet steel flavors.

Excellent vintage for this wine, packing a real punch, a real intensity of flavor, especially for $12. Rich in minerals and very compact and tangy.
