  • A blend of overripe Garnacha (60%), Cariñyena (30%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). The fermentation was halted at alc. 15,7%, leaving some 40-50% residual sugar. The wine was aged for 12 months in new 400 liter oak barrels.

Somewhat translucent dark cassis color. Rich, complex and very aromatic nose with sweet aromas of cassis, strawberry, coffee, blackberry jam, some peppery spice, a little vanilla oak, a slight minty lift and a hint of salty licorice. The wine is sweet, full-bodied and soft on the palate, yet showing nicely some fresh acid brightness and balancing tannic grip. The flavors are dominated by juicy and succulent cassis aromas and spicy notes of black pepper, supoorted by oaky nuances of cloves and vanilla with a hint of blackberry jam. The finish is long and juicy with jammy strawberry and blackberry marmalade flavors, some peppery spice and a hint of vanilla. The tannins give nice counterpoint to the sweetness by drying the insides of your mouth.

A delightful, concentrated and tasty wine that is not as much a dessert wine, as it is a sweet Priorat red. The wine shows obviously some residual sugar sweetness, but it isn't so sweet I wouldn't pair it with sweet desserts. Instead, I would pair it with a platter full of different cheeses, ranging from hard, aged cheeses to soft and tangy blue cheeses. Most likely will age nicely at least for a decade. Shows good value at 22€ (for a half bottle).
