  • Deep, purplish red with very high optical density and medium reflectivity. Intense nose, with an elegant character, showing dark fruits (plum, blackberry, cassis), aromatic compounds, and savory herbal-infused meats (like butter-fried spicy sausage). Full bodied on the palate with medium plus acidity and a shining, glossy texture that is supported by firm tannins- quite a bit of presence of tannin here starting at midpalate, but in a controlled way (not at all astringent). Really nice intensity of flavours, with purple fruits (plum, blueberry) over smokey meats on the attack. The flavours are blended here, with smooth seams between the various elements. The midpalate stays really full, with spicy forest floor and earthy meatiness (truffle-cooked) coming over the fruit. There is power here, but refined power, and with enough depth that this provides an interesting wine. The finish is really quite long, with spicy smoked berry jam, black pepper, and meat smoke-house lingering with good intensity.

This is really well-made, excellent wine. It is a bit more closed that I think it is capable of, and this makes it a hold. Once things knit together a bit more, it will have a nice character of old world flare with new world fruit and a bit of a modern package. The oak treatment is nice in that it is not overdone at all, but it is apparent, and with further integration will settle into an even more complementary role. While I think this is fairly modern, it is very well-balanced, and brings freshness together with power. This should improve, so no hurry! Excellent!

  • This is an amazing young Okanagan Syrah. A touch of violet mixed with notes of leather and pepper. It's a text book example of balance. Enjoy now after a few hours in the decanter or hold for at least another 5-6 years.

  • The cork is leaking.

Dense, beautiful substance, fruit and wood seem to meld well together. Still drinkable.
