Popped and poured. Very ripe and new world but has enough acidity to barely hold things together. Black cherry, underbrush and spice. Medium to full bodied with lots of flavor but lacking a bit of focus.

Decanted >2 hours. Big & bold in KB tradition for a PN. The wine has matured since last tasted almost 5 years ago. Exquisite wine still has time even at the 10 year mark.

I am always somewhat ambivalent about Kosta Browne Pinot’s. They just seem too ripe and contrived to me. This wine is true to style just not my favorite. It is a medium to dark translucent ruby-crimson color. It is distinctly sweet and oak infused. With vanilla galore, like a vanilla cream cherry. Acidity is medium (-). Lacking mineral notes and all about the fruit, though on the light side. There is a little baking spice also probably from the new oak. It went well enough with sautéed duck breast and an orange sauce. Just not exciting or distinctive for me.

This is delicious and doesn’t seem past its drinking window. Slightly sweet rich cherry and a hint of plum combine into a single zingy dark flavor on the mid pallet ending with lingering cherry and some acid. Other wines develop secondary and tertiary flavors as they age - this one seems to just mellow out.
