Initially quite open with some evident notes a petrol, layers of minerality. Very concentrated and long and when paired with food you feel the manly core of acidity, citrus galore. A vertical wine from an open vintage. Still young. #Schur

A similar experience to ACYSO; this was quite dark out of the bottle and seemed advanced. Ripe stone fruit, some apple, nuts, and honey. Great to have tried.

BYOB dinner and then some; 2/1/2024-2/2/2024 (Avalon, Amsterdam): [Tasted blind] The petrol took me to riesling, but the acidity made me doubt it. This wine was on my bucket list, but the showing of tonight did not justify that spot. It felt too advanced for its age, a bit tired. Missing some tension, especially for riesling (and for a wine of this status). Medium intensity with petrol, lemon, lime, honey, linoleum. Ripe. Medium+ acidity, medium+ finish

Tuesday (Chicago, IL): Surprisingly dark in colour and coming across as advanced, though this was still a great wine in and of itself. It just seemed more mature than I would have expected for a 2012. The nose initially shows a burnished, stone fruit quality, even though there is still lots of riesling-driven fruit aromatics and flavours. We put it in a decanter -- I think that was the right move, as this actually became more shapely as it got more air. The minerality and brightness gained strength, and the last sips were best.
