  • Good grief. This is *awesome* right now. Still fresh and vibrant but man this is about the deepest, most layered, most complex Champagne I can recall. Still showing lots of fruit but also nuts, brioche, and grated ginger. Very, very long. Everything in the right place -- and with this wine everything is a lot of things. Wow.

  • Pronounced aroma of yellow fruits, orange fruits like apricot. Some white flower and lots of yeast flavor. Ripen fruits.
Intended flavor intensity with m acidity and medium finish. Not that crisp and vibrant

  • En magnum during a fun 90s night only wine not served blind. So much to love here - it's still fresh but it's also so deep and has this nice caramel touch to it. We also had the 98 and 96 Krug that evening and all were sublime with 96 and 95 just edging the 98.

  • Let's just dwell and enjoy that color for a bit... The most beautiful golden color and lots of bubbles still rising from this aged beast.

After spending 5 minutes just looking at it, the nose was too inviting. What a magical multi-layered symphony.
First yellow apple, ripe apricot, roasted nuts and brioche. Then a full 180 to green apple, citrus fruits, lemon zest and beautiful freshness. Then what? Then comes the creamy butterness, salinity, coffee, gunpowder and mushroom... The aromas simply had no end and kept on building!

Getting to actually tasting this was hard when being so lost with my nose in the glass.
Again the layers were insane. Starting with the maturity of bruised apple, overripe pear, ripe apricot, custard, caramel, brioche, nuts and earthiness. Then all of that gets swept away by fresh apple, citrus fruits, lemon zest, the most insane minerality, sea breeze, a hint of white pepper and still the most intense, sharp and refreshing acidity.

Balance, complexity, depth, layers, craftsmanship, magic.. I have a lot of words but it has left me speechless.
