Bordeaux meets northern Rhone character in a way that was just perfect with prime short rib burgers topped with Roquefort. Great $10 value at release. Still drinking nicely.

A hint of syrah-style black pepper, but otherwise way too much acid and utterly forgettable. Consumed over three days, and it's fine with food, but not a value. Fair+.

Had an 04 Bellevue la Foret Ce Vin last night, 100% Negrette. A nice wine - boysenberries, wet band aids, somewhat chalky and a little grippy in the back. Very French. Made me think of a Bergerac. Would tend to hold a bit.

Again this showed really well - lovely perfume on the nose - really complex - berry, roses, cherries, dried herbs - reasonably balanced on the palate - a little harsh on the finish - but nice blueberry and currant flavour. Good depth too.

(Château Bellevue La Forêt Fronton Ce Vin) Opaque black red violet color; graphite and dried meat nose; tight, dense, tart black fruit, dried meat, sage, herbs and mineral palate; medium finish 88+ pts. (needs a few years?)

Pretty good - touch of elegance. Should try this grape (negrette) again!
