Quite a bright floral nose with lots of ripe black fruits. It’s juicy and fresh with fruit that’s ripe but not over the top. There is a touch of grip and good acidity. Becomes a touch more intense at the back of the palate with a real hit of black berry fruits and spices. Youthful and easy drinking. Very good for 8.99.
The wine is clear and bright with a medium ruby colour.
The nose is clean and youthful, showing pronounced intensity aromas of ripe black fruit (black plums, blackberries), pungent spices (white pepper, hints of liquorice) and flowers (violets).
The wine is dry in the mouth with a medium(+) well-integrated acidity. It has medium stalky tannins and a medium alcohol strength. It has a medium body and pronounced intensity juicy flavours of ripe black fruit (black plums, blackberries), pungent spices (hints of liquorice) and flowers (violets). The finish is medium+.
It is a very good quality wine. It has a persistent finish and a tasty concentration that balances the fresh acidity. On the other hand a better example of this style would be more complex.

Appearance: Clear wine with a medium purple colour and a bright, cherry-red rim.
Nose: Clean nose with a medium intensity. This wine is youthful.
Bright and floral on the nose, with cherries and violets being prominent. Crushed rocks and chalk are secondary with notes of pine and sage underneath. Simple and quite expressive.
Palate: Dry High acidity Medium alcohol Medium tannins Medium- intensity Medium body Medium- finish
Very fresh on the palate with a gripping acidity for a red wine. Slightly fuller in body and smoother than expected for typical Mencia with flavours of chalk and sage lasting throughout and into an unfortunately shortish finish.
Good quality Mencia from Bierzo. Drink now as this will not improve with age. At 5-6 euros an absolute bargain and a great introduction to Mencia - typical flavours whilst being slightly easier drinking than some!
