  • As 98% of the island of Samos is covered with the Muscat grape and the Union of Vinicultural Cooperatives Samos (EOSS) is the only winemaking body, they have a peculiar method to classify the grapes sourced from 2,800 different growers: the average altitude of the vineyards.

The grapes for the Nectar are harvested at around 14°Baumé from semi-mountainous, small and terraced vineyards. The grapes are then exposed to the sun for up to a week, concentrating the grape sugars to the degree of 21°Baumé. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks at an average of 17°C yet stops at 14-15% alcohol level is reached. The resulting wine has 14% alcohol, 5,8 gr/lt of total acidity (tartaric), 150 gr/lt of residual sugar and a pH of 3,60. The wine is aged in a mix of French barrels for three years before its release.

Amber in colour. Very compelling aromas of walnuts and raisins. Complex and concentrated. Seriously rich and deep. One of the most undervalued wines of the world.
