Lebanese night, Chateau Musar tasting (Vilnius, Lithuania): Chateau Musar tasting, flight 2/4, wine 5/12. Vines are located at 1200-1400 meters of altitude, made only from Obaideh, due to difficult season Merwah was not up to standard. Aged for 9 months in new small FR oak barrels and 6 years in bottle. Intense aroma of smoke, earth, butter, honey, caramel, bruised and baked apples, dried apricots, figs, waxy hints. Medium body, creamy and weighty, medium+ acidity, medium+ intensity flavours of caramel, toasted butter, faded dry fruits, spices, saline lengthy finish.

Used an ah-so to open. Cork was very brittle and some flaked off into the bottle, but overall came out intact. Color is a dark salmon/copper - Kind of reminds me of Clos Cibonne Tibouren rosé. Still a little darker than I would have hoped. Doesn’t bode well…
Honey, hazelnuts, orange marmalade on the nose. Some subtle baking spice and even some peachy tropical aromas hiding in the background.
On the palate the wine is medium bodied with a slightly creamy texture. Still a ton of acid and even a bit of tannin. More hazelnuts and citrus. Toffee and an interesting minty underripe strawberry flavor.
Over the hill, but still tasty and fun to try such an old white wine.

Dried fruits, apricots, nuts, honey. Similar to a manzanilla sherry. Fine and elegant. Nice acid, some freshness Nice, but not outstanding.

Super honeyed and waxy. Palate kind of falls off halfway. I'd still drink it just for those two aged qualities though. LOL
