Brownish red colour. Colour makes it seem more aged than it is. As both aroma and taste as fresh. Black berry, floral, hint of spice. Tannins light and long finish.

Tried a single glass from the Coravin about a week ago. Quite disappointed even giving the wine some air in the glass - tasted a little cooked and the fruit was masked by a wall of sharp tannins. Pulled the cork a week later and let the wine breathe in the bottle for a couple of hours. Like a different wine. The wine became totally balanced with the tannins sitting perfectly side-by-side with beautiful seam of red fruit and an undercurrent of earth and tobacco. The wine felt deep in flavour yet somehow light on its feet. Intoxicating aroma in a Zalto Burgundy glass with rib-eye steak and frites - a combination that is hard to beat. Four bottles left and there could well be more to come although it's hard to argue against drinking one or two now and over the next couple of years if they are tasting this good. Personal favourite wine to leave my cellar was a 2006 Castello di Neive Santo Stefano Riserva Barbaresco - this could challenge....

Italian Night in Jax (La Cena): A favorite producer for me for some years now. I’m a fan of the wine which was served side by side with a 97 Giacosa. It’s obviously still too young (thankfully we do have another bottle) but you can see some similarities in the styling and the freshness of the wine and the just general brightness. I’d continue to hold on it but it was enjoyable.

Although still tannic, the fruit is developed. Drink before it becomes unbalanced.
