I didn't decant but poured two glasses immediately for dinner and set aside while i grilled the burgers. the rest we drank in the 30 minutes before dinner and after dinner. The wine still had plenty of life left. a beautiful aged CA CS. Perfumed and red fruits upon opening it and moved to darker fruits/licorice upon opening up.

Rutherford Grove Winery Tasting - August 2012 (Rutherford, California - Napa Valley): Dark brick red color with savory blackberry, cassis and dried herb aromas. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, and smooth with blackberry, cassis, dried herb and oak flavors. Medium-long finish. 85% Cabernet Sauvignon/ 10% Cabernet Franc/5% Petite Verdot

Classic aged CS - we enjoyed the first glass with a sirloin. Decanted and needed to wait longer that we did. Nice licorice nose w/ some hint of alcohol. Mature but bottled up as the 2nd glass an hour later revealed the complexity that age had brought to the "hot" mouth feel and finish.

dark purple and concentrated. no sign of aging. alcohol, green pepper and tobacco, up front, then follows with eucalyptus, oak and baked fruit and dried roses. Good with fruit but drinkeable by itself. 14.2% alc. still a little hot on the tongue in 2005.
