The 2007 d’Auvenay whites are amazing right now. I opened a bottle at the 2017 La Paulée and one a few days ago, and they were both excellent. The wine shows a yeasty, baked bread note at first encounter. Behind that is a fresh mix of citrus fruit and apples and pears. Very 2007 and long and rare: 303 bottles made.

Zachys La Paulee "Warm-up" Dinner (Lafayette - New York NY): Small glass, brief note. Reductive start, particularly on palate. Lots of acid, comes across rather tart from middle to finish. Probably better with more cellar time or more air.

Popped and poured, already wow nose, very flinty, fresh, slight sulphur and exotic fruit. Surprisingly approachable with an amazingly nutty palate, brioche, slight butter and full of minerality. Very fresh with sharp acidity, very long finish. Already amazing to drink, looking foward to try again in a few more years.

Popped and poured. The explosive toasted nut, tropical fruit, minerals, and acidity were so undeniably beautiful. On the palate, the layers were not fully expressed due to the youth. However, the deep and vivid palate could not hide the potential of this. In 5-7 years, this wine will enter its optimal drinking window which then will deserve a 95-96 for this beauty. Thanks Pacalet for this great treat!

Village night. Classic reductive aromatics. Damn that’s delicious. Crisp, fresh, laser precision. (26/303)
