WSET, Level 3 Advanced Certifcation Training; 3/11/2018-4/22/2018 (Texas Wine School at the Food & Wine Foundation of Texas, Austin, TX): Tasting sample. Clear medium ruby color. Youthful and primary, with medium minus aromas of cherry, raspberry and plum. Dry. Medium plus flavors of tart cherry and raspberry with faint hints of minerals. Medium alcohol and medium minus body. Medium tannin and medium plus acidity only support a short finish. Acceptable, but a very simple wine. Well balanced, but lacks intensity, complexity and length. Drink now, unlikely to improve with further aging.

PNP. Medium ruby color. Cherry, raisin and cranberry on the pleasant nose. Smooth, tart palate. Soft tannins on medium long finish. This is more tart than I like, but finish was surprisingly long/nice.

An attractive Bourgogne with good complexity for its level. Top notes of woodsmoke and peat with quite a dense fruit core. A little shrill at moment but should better in a few years after the acid calms down.

Agree with previous review that the QPR is off - there are many better options. That said, Pleasant gamey nose, with pronounced raspberry and licorice palate. Short finish on this one, maybe because it remains young and could benefit greatly from staying in the bottle for a bit. Indeed, drink with light fare if you are prone to popping the cork.
