I have been a long-time customer of this wine and was shocked to find the change from French to Californian. I can't believe this supplier, Big House, took a perfectly good, affordable house wine like Pinot Evil and changed it from a French Pinot noir (Vin de Pays I'ile de Beaute) to a cheap, run-of-the-mill California red. The 3 liter box says it was under the watchful eye of Georgetta Dane; she dropped the ball here. If you like California's you won't mind but if you like the cleaner flavors of classic French then you just lost something.

Bouquet earthy. Taste cloves, slightly spicy, berry. More like a Zin / Pinot mix. Spicy food (shrimp) amplified by this wine. Ok with sweet food (sweet barbecue). Tasted in San Diego at Indigo Grill. Bottle and meal for two for $40.

You can do worse for the five bones... first gulp took me back to a cheap Paris (Place Republique) cafe I used to go to decades ago, and by the end of the bottle I was still thinking that: this is an inexpensive house red for the undemanding; serve this blind in a tasting of its ilk and few will guess the varietal, no one will love it, and it won't come in last -- is it really from Corsica?

This was barely drinkable. Still not sure I'm going to finish the first glass unfortunately I still have another bottle. May give it to an anemy as a gift. Definitely evil.

Medium to light weight, a touch of bitterness to the fruit, not a very good wine.
