This gave the impression of being past its prime, sadly. Lovely nose and initial attack, and then falls apart on the finish. The burnt quality one taster noticed was definitely in evidence.

- Yellow gold color and aromas of fig and has flavours of butterscotch and honey with a medium/full body. Smooth texture with a medium finish - Wow. What a rich wonderful taste. Very smooth, almost a cordial. Very rich. Excellent.

We shocked the restaurant staff when we asked them to open it with our first course... but told them we'd brought it on purpose for the foie gras. (I was in a Sauternes kinda mood and the restaurant doesn't publish its wine list online.) If you thought foie gras on a biscuit with maple syrup gravy was overkill... we went several steps further pairing this wine with it. Sweet syrupy goodness galore!

Past its prime. Drinkable, but a shadow of what it was. Mild burnt aftertaste now
