  • Ever so slightly past it's prime. After 90 minutes it was drinking very well.

  • Allowed to breathe in glass one hour before tasting. At first I wasn't sure if this wine was corked, or merely faded with too much dill on the nose. It actually showed best on the third day under vacuum stopper, showing nice creme de cassis and blackberry liqueur with oak, herbs, and savory notes of meat and tobacco.

  • This wine is very dynamic. It is not what it used to be, but very enjoyable nonetheless.

  • I hated to pop this one, but it was time. The cork was brittle - came out in three pieces, but had only bled about 33 percent up the cork. The cork was BLACK on the wine side, and was only decanted because of the sediment possibilities. There was a TON of sediment on the neck but surprisingly, not much in the glass. The wine poured a candy apple red, less dense than I thought. The nose out of the decanter was grandma's house combined with some bing cherry, then blackberry after it had sat for 20-30 minutes, then a sweeter note. The palate was all aged black cherry, settling to aged blackberry and LOTS of VERY ripe plum and fig. This wine was ELEGANT, VERY smooth from start to finish. The finish showed that just about all the tannicity was gone and had completely integrated. This wine was giving everything it had, and I appreciated it!! So sad to see it go! If you still have this one, it's time.

  • I’ve always been fond of the Clone 6 (actually, BV’s in general). This one is drinking well right now, little decanting is necessary, and the wine shows a bright concentrated fruit profile right off the bat which starts to fad slightly after an hour. At an hour, you get mocha notes with damp earth and cherry drop. There is a slight ting of greenness on this bottle and very minimal BV medicinal (camphor) notes. Resolved tannins and a medium length finish. A nice wine that will last a bit longer.
