  • Univinum wine fair (EDEKA Ueltzhöfer (Heilbronn/Germany)): Definitely a nice showing. The vineyards of Odinstal are located relatively high accordingly you have a "cooler" expression here. Very focused, straight with a polished acidity, lots of depth and easily ten to twenty more years of cellar aging potential.

  • Medium-deep and relatively concentrated lemon yellow color. Relatively rich, ripe and expressive nose with aromas of sweet peachy stone fruit, Bassett's wine gums, some beeswax, a little bit of flint smoke, light spicy floral tones and a heady hint of exotic fruit. The wine is medium-bodied, and crisp yet relatively concentrated and somewhat oily on the palate with bold, focused flavors of beeswax, very ripe golden apples, some orange marmalade, a little bit of stony mineral bitterness, a hint of assorted savory spices and a touch of grapefruit. The high acidity lends good sense of balance and structure to the wine, while the concentrated, oily mouthfeel softens the sharp edges from the acidity a little bit. The finish is long, dry and quite acid-driven with complex, mineral flavors of beeswax, steely minerality, some ripe pear, a little bit of peachy stone fruit, light waxy funky tones and a hint of exotic floral spice.

A rich, complex and distinctive Riesling that is very enjoyable and surprisingly approachable already this young, but shows great potential for future development. A wine with this much concentration, ripeness, balance and acid structure can easily continue to develop for another decade and even more. Great stuff. Priced according to its quality at 35€.
