  • Nice medium pale straw colour. On the nose, floral aromas, butter, and a touche of hazelnut. After a while yellow apple appears. On the palate, the attack is frank, with quite an evident acidity stream, which opens on a somewhat rounded density, but always kept in check by the present acidity. The flavours that follow are floral, butter, Granny Smith apple with a nice mineral stony finish. A good to very good length. Good wine, more on an acidity/apple lean. I get the impression it is slightly riper, age wise, than the Baudines 2014 by the same producer, and…. I think I prefer the Morgeot from the same producer and vintage from an aroma perspective (less apple and more citrus). In all cases, a good wine, though not able to make me forget the slightly less expensive Encégnières 2014 of Marc Colin. 90-91

A few hours later, this is surprisingly stony. Pebbles, chalk etc...

  • Absolutely squint inducing. A study in geology and citrus fruit. It is stony and flinty and has plenty of grapefruit. It is fine, linear and intense. Superb wine.

  • DIVA Burgundy Tasting (Maison Champy - Beaune): Tasting, brief note. Orchard fruit with tropical hints with very good concentration. Modest acidity, better minerality. While I slightly prefer the Embrazees, this was a close 2nd amongst these 5 Chassagne 1ers today.
