  • ABV: 14.1%. 56% Cabernet Sauvignon & 44% Cabernet Franc. I remember tasting this wine back in the mid-2000s (when it was first released) and being very impressed. I admit that I was very skeptical about how well this wine will age since the style is a bit too modern for my preference, but 20 years later, this wine is even more refined and exquisite than I remembered. The nose is currently dominated by floral notes (rather than fruits), exhibiting violets, lilac, and a lot of jasmine. In the background, there's a faint hint of white pepper and some fruit tones with a Chambord-like quality. On the palate, this wine is super smooth with silky texture from the soft tannins. The acid has kept this wine beautifully intact over these past two decades, and now it lifts the core of red and black fruits (think cherries, plums, currants). There's a cola-like quality that appears along with the lengthy finish. Just pop and pour or even give it a quick decant to avoid the sediments. This is a beautiful wine that's drinking great now.

2/21/2023 - Raised the score by 1 point (from 97 to 98). 24 hours after opening, the nose is now exploding with a profile that's a cross between cola and Chambord-like quality. The acid has kept the wine intact overnight and the dark fruits are now exploding on the palate, but the mouthfeel is still smooth and elegant. A very impressive wine from what I recall to be a very hot vintage. I just wish that I had some kind of beefy/meaty meal to pair with this bottle.

  • This is bordeaux in style to be certain. Tobacco, cedar, restrained style that goes well with food and very good.

  • Nice wine that may appeal to those with a New world Bordeaux palate. Ripe but not overly so. The large percent of Cab Franc may have something to do with it. Well made wine that drinks well now although it has some tannins. $50 seems a bit of a stretch though.
